This project helps families build personalised dining rituals using stackable tiles that represent different parts of their mealtime experience. Each combination becomes a visual symbol of their shared habits sparking connection, creativity, and conversations around sustainability, nutrition, and food waste.

Farm to Fork
We visited Rabarbergaarden, a 90% self-sufficient “farm-to-fork” business driven by
sustainability, no-waste practices, and free-range farming. Led by Louise, chairman of the
Danish ecological association, and chef Thomas, the farm seamlessly integrates agriculture
with seasonal cooking.

With an open mind, we explored their approach. “When you ask children where carrots come
from, they will say the supermarkets,” Thomas noted, highlighting the growing disconnect
from food origins. Louise added, “People are missing the sense of eating together,”
emphasizing the decline of shared, home-cooked meals.

From this trip we talked about our insights and created a how might we question to frame the
project. “How might we design an interactive and engaging product that encourages
families to establish and maintain meaningful rituals in order to strengthen connections
around shared meals?”

Using ToGather
Gather at your dining space and choose a time for your ritual. Open the tile box, read through the options, and stack your chosen tiles in the order: Theme, Cooking, Education, and Communication. Assemble the frame and display it nearby.
A few days before, check the green tiles to start planning your meal and assign roles like cooking or setting the table. On the day, prepare and enjoy the meal together with the frame present. Use the orange tiles during the meal to spark connection and conversation. Afterward, keep the frame visible as a reminder of your shared ritual and commitment to sustainable dining.
